    Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the disinfection effects of acetic peroxide and 84-disinfectant on individually ventilated cages(IVC).Methods IVC cages were soaked with acetic peroxide or disinfectant-84 for corespondingly fixed time and concentration. The total bacteria and air borne bacteria(koch) in IVC cages were determined. Results and Conclusion IVC cages can be disinfected by both 0.2%,0.5%,1.0%,2.0% acetic peroxide and disinfectant-84,respectively,for 5 minutes. To be safe,we soaked IVC cages with 0.5% acetic peroxide or disinfectant-84,for 10 minutes, alternatively. The effect is excellent. No pollution has been observed for more than one year.SPF is obtained for nude mice kept in such disinfected IVC cages.
